On the eve of Earth Day, 140 Iowa faith leaders signed a statement calling for action on climate change and five of them spoke Thursday at a news conference at the Iowa State Capitol.

The statement, organized by Iowa Interfaith Power & Light, expressed the support among leaders of many and varied religious faiths for clean energy and curbing greenhouse gas emissions.

Those speaking at the Thursday, April 21, 2016, news conference are:

Rev. Susan Hendershot Guy, Executive Director of Iowa Interfaith Power & Light.

Bishop Richard Pates of the Catholic Diocese of Des Moines.

Rev. Zuiko Redding, resident pastor at Cedar Rapids Zen Center.

Rev. Steve Mathonnet-VanderWell, co-pastor of the Second Reformed Church in Pella.

Dr. Gerald L. Sorokin, executive director of the University of Iowa Louis Shulman Hillel Foundation in Iowa City.
