Iowa IPL and the Climate Speakers Network are co-hosting a special ½ day climate speakers training in West Des Moines on April 26. Please consider attending and invite those in your network as well.

This training has been custom designed to provide people of faith in Iowa with the tools to build public awareness of climate change and to drive action for solutions within their communities. It will help faith leaders and people of faith convey the ethical imperative of addressing climate change through the use of moral narratives and compelling storytelling.  At the same time, the training will focus on Iowa’s unique opportunity to be a leader in providing solutions to climate change through renewable energy sources such as wind. Their materials are excellent! Don’t miss this fabulous opportunity!

April 26, West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., with a dinner following immediately afterwards. There is no charge for this event, but we do ask you to register to attend here.

FOOD • FAITH • CLIMATE WORKSHOP, APRIL 27, DAVENPORT

Attend a Food • Faith • Climate workshop and learn how you can save the planet, your health, and maybe some $$$.

Climate change is related to our food choices.

When we sit down to dinner, we may not think about global warming, but one third of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions are connected to our food system. At every meal, we can make a real difference that ensures a more climate-friendly food system. And luckily, the ethical choices are also pleasurable ones that improve the health of the planet and our bodies!

During this workshop we look at:

  • how our food system contributes to climate change
  • what our faith traditions say about sustainable food systems
  • food practices in our own households
  • a personal plan for more climate friendly choices

The workshop includes: resources and pocket guides for more climate-friendly choices, and a climate friendly snack.

Location: Unitarian Universalists of the Quad Cities, 3707 Eastern Ave, Davenport

Date and time: April 27, 7pm – 8:30pm.

Cost: $20/person. Register here.
