Dear Friends,

I know that many of you are struggling today to understand what the post-election political landscape means for our work together to care for our planet and for those who are most vulnerable in our world. Now, more than ever, our world is crying out and we know that there is no time to waste in our struggle for justice.

I want to send a word of encouragement and hope. It is only by working together and not giving in to despair that our world can change. We must continue to build relationships with one another because in the end it is our relationships that create meaning and help us know that we are not in this alone.

To that end, I want to invite you to participate in two opportunities to connect:

• Join interfaith leaders for a time of prayer at 6:00 p.m. central time this evening (November 9, 2016) during A Prayer to Heal the Nation
• Join me this Saturday, November 12, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Mars Café, 2318 University Ave., Des Moines for a time of support and conversation as we look toward the future

We at Iowa IPL continue to be committed to this work and we know that people of faith have a moral calling to care for those who are most vulnerable. We are also called to work for the kind of world in which we want to live. I invite you to do that, with us, in community.

In faith,Susan Guy 4
