This summer Iowa Interfaith Power & Light has the honor and privilege to work with two Iowa students who attend colleges across our state. Together, our student leaders will be writing our 2021 religious leaders statement and planning our larger Called to Climate Action 2021 in the fall. Each of our student leaders brings different expertise and experiences as well as a strong commitment to climate justice. Please welcome our Called to Climate Action student leaders and learn more about them in their own words.
Claira Miller, Iowa State University
My name is Claira Miller and I am from Nevada, Iowa. I will be starting my sophomore year at Iowa State University this fall, majoring in animal science, with a minor in general business. At Iowa State, I am active in Block and Bridle, in addition to taking a global sustainability class. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with Iowa IPL and look forward to combining my passion for agriculture with the drive to create a more sustainable future.
Parker Laney, Coe College
I’m Parker Laney, I am a religious studies major with a minor in history at Coe College. I’m going to be a senior and I’m excited to be a part of the Student Leadership program because I want to be able to develop tools I can use to be a part of positive changes in regard to the environment. I’m called to climate action because of the love I feel for the earth and its inhabitants and the drive to preserve them.
We were able to build this team of Iowa student leaders due to the generous support of our individual and organizational donors. Thank you!
