On October 26th, Iowa Interfaith Power and Light will be hosting a statewide interfaith gathering in Hiawatha, Iowa. The event will be held at Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Interfaith Prayer Service
The morning will begin with an interfaith prayer service, in which participants will pray the 2019 Religious Leadership Statement, which will be created around the central theme of a faithful call to climate action.
Following the prayer service, participants will hear from our keynote speaker, Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, who is an atmospheric scientist and professor of political science at Texas Tech University. Dr. Hayhoe is also the director of the Climate Science Center and an exceptional speaker and leader in the application of critical discussion to the scope of climate change work. She is a self-identified evangelical Christian, and her December 2018 TED talk has garnered over 1.5 million views.
Check out one of her TED Talks here.
After Hayhoe speaks, the event will conclude with a panel of professionals where their faith calls them to climate action in their own career.
